The inaugural KZN Art Fair took place 6-9 August 2026 at Hilton College in the KZN Midlands, in partnership with the Hilton Arts Festival - which is now in its 34th year. 2027 dates are 13-15 August.
Big Ideas, Real Impact
Driven by a celebration of KZN creative talent and shaped by critical engagement, the KZN Art Fair brings together beauty, intentional practice and the cultural energy of KwaZulu-Natal. The Fair is a team of KZN-based practitioners who are building the infrastructure needed for artists, galleries, collectors and audiences to meet, discuss and acquire contemporary art within the province.
Spotlight Artist
The KZN Art Fair Artist Spotlight is an annual honorary feature celebrating an artist with strong connections to KwaZulu-Natal whose practice has achieved significant recognition.
Each year, the Spotlight foregrounds the work and trajectory of an artist who has emerged from, worked within, or been shaped by KwaZulu-Natal. It is an opportunity to celebrate an artist’s practice and journey, while recognising the role that the province and its creative communities have played in their development.
The inaugural 2026 Artist Spotlight is Mmangaliso Nzuza, a Cape Town-based painter born in Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal. Known for his large-scale oil paintings and fragmented figurative compositions, Nzuza draws on allegory, colour and gestural mark-making to explore vulnerability, connection and the relationship between self and other.
The KZN Art Fair recognises Nzuza’s growing contribution to contemporary painting and celebrates the continued influence of KwaZulu-Natal in shaping artists whose practices extend beyond the province.
